| The Maritime Air Quality Technical
Working Group (Maritime Working Group) provides a forum for discussion
of air quality issues and concerns pertaining to maritime activities in
California. The Maritime Working Group is open to all interested
parties and includes representatives from a variety of stakeholders,
including the Ports, commercial shipping companies, U.S. EPA, the local
air districts, maritime industry associations, and community and
environmental groups. A key task of the Maritime Working Group is to
participate in the development of emission reduction strategies for
commercial marine vessels and dockside equipment. However, the Maritime
Working Group is not intended to replace the public process necessary
for development of regulatory proposals but to enhance that process and
provide a place where frank and open discussions can be conducted on
maritime air quality impacts and the strategies needed to reduce those
emissions. |
