Public Hearing to
Consider Amendments to the Ambient Air Quality Standards for Particulate Matter and Sulfates

| The Staff of the Air
Resources Board (ARB) and the Office of Environmental
Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) have prepared the staff
report entitled "PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER AMENDMENTS TO THE AMBIENT
AIR QUALITY STANDARDS FOR PARTICULATE MATTER AND SULFATES," which can
be downloaded below. The
report contains findings and recommendations for revising the
California standards for particulate matter 10 micrometers in diameter
and smaller (PM10) and establishing new
California standards for particulate matter 2.5 micrometers in diameter
and smaller (PM2.5). |
| In drafting this report and developing the
recommendations, public comments were considered. The review and the
recommedations contained in the report were peer reviewed by the Air
Quality Advisory Committee. Details of the review process are

| The recommendations discussed in the report were
presented to the Board at a public hearing on June 20,
2002, in El Monte, California. Please
