1997 Southern California Ozone Study - NARSTO

University of California, Riverside Description and Site Map

Three sites were employed at UCR. The Pierce Hall site housed single particle analysis (ATOFMS) and was supplemented by filter and impactor measurements. This site was set up to be the downwind end of trajectories from the heavily populated Los Angeles coastal plain. Additional aerosol measurements were taken at the AG Ops site, which hosts a sampling site for a mulit-year health effects study (ARB Children s Health Study); the focus at AgOps was characterization of prototype Federal Reference Method PM2.5 samplers, but the detailed organic and inorganic data collected will be applied to the general aerosol study as well. The CE-CERT site hosted the SCOS97-NARSTO UV Radiation experiments; measurements here included high-resolution UV spectrometry (Brewer), direct NO2 photolysis (gas actinometer), and various simpler UV and total solar radiometers for evaluation as routine indicators of solar UV flux.
