This is our fourth technical workgroup meeting regarding the "weekend effect", the observation that ozone is often higher on weekends than on weekdays, while emissions are lower, in some air basins. It follows our previous working group meetings (September 22, 1999, November 16, 1999 and March 1, 2000) where we discussed ongoing research efforts. The California Air Resources Board, the South Coast Air Quality Management District, the Coordinating Research Council, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory all are conducting research either in-house or through contracts to further understand the phenomenon.
The purpose of these meetings is to coordinate the timing and funding of our research, share results, exchange ideas and elaborate on technical details. The agenda (pdf - 4k) or (msw97 - 41k) for this fourth meeting is also posted on the Web.
Those who are funding or conducting research in this area will benefit the most from this meeting. Please contact Marlena Elliot at (916) 445-0753 or email@example.com to advise if you plan to attend or to obtain a dial-on number if you prefer to join us by phone.
