February 24, 2003 - Title 17 Public
Education Working Group Subcommittee Meeting: Agenda
March 11 - 12 - Smoke Management Training Workshop Course #375 -- This
two-day workshop will emphasize policies, procedures, and
techniques for conducting proper smoke management associated
with prescribed burning.

The Air Resources Board will conduct a public
meeting on February 21, 2002, to consider reallocating
$100,000 of fiscal year 1999 - 2000 Rice Straw
Demonstration Project Fund Grant Monies to Broken

August 2001
A workshop to review proposed changes in funding
criteria for the upcoming Rice Straw Demonstration
Project Grant Fund was held in Sacramento on August
23, 2001. Release of the Invitation for Grant
Requests is expected in late September /
early October.

March 2001
The Smoke Management Guidelines for Agricultural and
Prescribed Burning (Guidelines) were
filed with the Secretary of State on March
14, 2001, and became effective as of that date.
The Draft of the 2001 Report to the
Legislature on Recommendations for Ensuring the Consistency and
Predictability in the Supply of Rice Straw for Cost-Effective
Uses has been released for public comment (March 7 - 22,
2001). A workshop to solicit
stakeholder input and comments was held on March 7, 2001.

A public workshop to consider
revisions to Title 17, Smoke Management
Guidelines, for the March 23 - 24,
2000, Board meeting was held on January 18, 2000, at its
Sacramento offices
from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

California's Agricultural Burning regulations. (Based on
comments received during the past several months, another
draft is being developed which will be available
in advance of the upcoming public workshops.)

Announcement of July Workshops on Proposed Changes
to California Agricultural Burning Regulations. The ARB
held workshops in July in three locations in California to discuss
proposed rule language changes to California's agricultural
burning regulations.

April 26, 1999
Announcement of Joint Workshop in the San Joaquin
Valley. On Monday, May 17, 1999, from
1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., the ARB and
the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District held a joint
workshop to discuss proposed changes to regulations
governing agricultural burning in California. The
attachment referenced in the joint workshop announcement is
the ARB smoke management concept
