| This is an introductory course that will cover the history and background of air pollution dispersion modeling and the regulations that govern and require its use. We will also discuss key concepts and terms, various types of modeling tools such as prioritization tools, screening tools and refined modeling. The class will include hands on exercises using prioritization and screening tools based for common sources types. It is highly recommended that you bring a laptop computer to class. The course will also introduce the inputs and output of AERMOD and HARP along with the use of the Lakes Environmental viewing software. However, this class will not cover the details of operating AERMOD and HARP. Detailed training regarding the use of refined dispersion models such as AERMOD and risk assessment and toxic emissions inventory tools such as HARP will be provided in the future. |
