| The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued rules that will reduce emissions of criteria and air toxic pollutants from stationary internal combustion engines. These engines are used at facilities such as power plants and chemical and manufacturing plants to generate electricity and power pumps and compressors. They are also used in emergencies to produce electricity and pump water for flood and fire control. This training will include an overview of both reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) national emission standard for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) and internal combustion engine (IC) new source performance standards (NSPS) rules. RICE NESHAP The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule that will reduce emissions of hazardous air pollutants from both compression ignited and spark ignited stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines. Internal Combustion Engine NSPS The New Source Performance Standards (NSPS) and are found in 40 CFR Part 60 subpart IIII and JJJJ. These NSPS apply to new, modified and reconstructed stationary internal combustion engines. | |||||||||||||||
