ARB tours facility where UPS electric vehicles were made

ARB received a tour of the Electric Vehicle International (EVI) manufacturing plant in Stockton on Wednesday, February 6, 2013. EVI relocated from Toluca, Mexico, to Stockton, California, in 2009. The reason for the move was Californiaís push towards clean energy. They are the manufacturers of the new electric UPS delivery trucks that were rolled-out in a press conference yesterday with Governor Jerry Brown at the UPS West Sacramento facility. Soon there will be100 of these electric UPS trucks out on the road. ARB assisted UPS with funding through their Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program (HVIP) which receives funding through AB 118. Other contributors included the California Energy Commission, the South Coast AQMD, San Joaquin Valley APCD, and the Sacramento Metropolitan AQMD. Both Sacramento and South Coast Air District co-funding originated from the US EPA under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act.
