mobile sources. Mobile sources account for well over half of the
emissions which contribute to ozone and particulate matter air
pollution in California. Zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) and near-zero
emission vehicles are a key element of California's plan for attaining
health based air quality standards. |

| Hybrid Electric Vehicle Test Procedures |
The
ARB is modifying the existing exhaust & evaporative test procedures
for Light Duty & Medium Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) to
better characterize emissions from all types and architectures of
Hybrid Electric Vehicles including Plug-In hybrids. Information
regarding this process and the proposed modifications are shown

Environmental Performance Label

Soon it will be easy to determine how each car rates when it comes to air pollution. That is because all new cars beginning with the 2009 model year are required to display a new Environmental Performance (EP) label. The EP label scores a vehicle’s Global Warming and Smog emissions from 1-10 with the HIGHEST scores being the cleanest vehicle options. |
