                             Standard of Performance for
                                 Secondary Brass and
                            Bronze Ingot Production Plants

          (a) Definitions

               (1) BLAST FURNACE means any furnace used to recover metal
                    from slag.

               (2) BRASS OR BRONZE means any metal alloy containing copper
as its predominant constituent, and lesser amounts of
zinc, tin, lead, or other metals.

               (3) ELECTRIC FURNACE means any furnace which uses
electricity to produce over 50 percent of the heat
required in the production of refined brass or bronze.

               (4) REVERBERATORY FURNACE includes the following types of
                    reverberatory furnaces: stationary, rotating, rocking
                    or tilting.

          (b) Emission Standard

This rule applies to the following facilities in secondary
brass and bronze ingot production plants, the construction
or modification of which commenced after June 11, 1973:

On and after the date on which the performance test required
to be conducted by Rule 902 (b)(1) is completed, no owner or
operator of a facility subject to the provisions of this
rule shall cause to be discharged into the atmosphere any
gases which contain particulate matter in excess of 50
milligrams per dry standard cubic meter (0.022 grains per
               dry standard cubic foot).

               (1) From a reverberatory furnace any gases which:

                    (A) Contain particulate matter in excess of 50
milligrams per dry standard cubic meter (0.022
grains per dry standard cubic foot).

                    (B) Exhibit 20 percent opacity or greater.

               (2) From any blast (cupola) or electric furnace any gases
which exhibit ten percent opacity or greater.

          (c) Testing Procedure

Emissions shall be tested according to the methods specified
by the Air Pollution Control Officer.
