E.T. Browne Drug Company Inc. Case Settles for $4,000

On June 14, 2012, a case was settled with E.T. Browne Drug Company Inc. for two types of hair care products, “Black & Beautiful Super Hold Spritz” and “Black & Beautiful Natural Oil Sheen Spray for Man”. These hair care products contained VOC concentrations exceeding the 55 percent by weight VOC limits for respected “Hair Spray” and “Hair Shine” categories specified in title17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509 (a). The products were sold between 2008 and 2009 and resulted in 0.15 tons of excess VOC emissions attributable to the violation. The company paid $4,000 to settle the case.
