The Fairplex Corp. Case Settles for $18,000.00

$18,000.00 IN FINES PAID BY THE FAIPLEX CORPORATION In June 2012, The Fairplex Corp. agreed to pay $18,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $13,500.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,500.00 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached on June19, 2012. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that The Fairplex Corp. failed to demonstrate its diesel powered vehicle fleet complied with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the Emission Control Label (ECL) program and the In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle (Off-Road) rule. To settle the case, The Fairplex Corp. agreed to the $18,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, ECL and Off-Road regulations.
