On March 7, 2011, J & G Produce (JGP) agreed to pay $1,875.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $1,406.25 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $468.75 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Community Colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.

An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that JGP failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) by not smoke testing their fleet of diesel vehicles in 2008 and 2009. To settle the case, JGP agreed to the $1,875.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP rule.
