The staff of the Air Resources Board (ARB) invites you to a public workshop to discuss proposed amendments to the gasoline deposit control additive regulation (Title 13, California Code of Regulations, section 2257). This workshop is a follow-up to a public workshop held in Sacramento on June 11, 1998, which discussed staff's initial proposed amendments.
The workshop will be held at the following:
|July 24, 1998
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Air Resources Board
Auditorium - Annex 4 Building
9530 Telstar Avenue
El Monte, California
Note: This workshop will follow the Mobile Source Control Division's workshop on low emission vehicle (LEV) II standards and CAP 2000 (certification streamlining) being held on July 22 and 23, 1998, at the same location.
At the workshop, staff will discuss the proposed amendments and the basis for the modifications. A copy of the proposed amendments and an agenda is enclosed for your information. In general, the proposed amendments will: 1) eliminate the certification requirement for port fuel injector clean-up, 2) lower the current intake valve deposit standard, and 3) incorporate a new combustion chamber deposit (CCD) standard. Other minor amendments are also proposed that affect the formulation of certification test fuels. Staff will also discuss concerns raised at the last workshop and discuss a proposed draft ARB test method that incorporates CCD testing with the existing BMW IVD test.
Since the last workshop, staff have drafted a proposed test method to measure both IVDs and CCDs. The proposed test method is based on ASTM D 5500-97 and incorporates standard CCD test procedures used by testing facilities. The proposed test method also addresses technical procedural issues associated with ASTM D 5500-97 to be consistent with guidance issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The proposed test method is enclosed for your review.
To be included on the agenda, or to discuss any other questions relating to the workshop, please contact Mr. Jim M. Aguila, Air Resources Engineer, at (916) 327-1512, or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The meeting facility is accessible to persons with disabilities. If accommodation is needed, please contact Ms. Jacqueline Wilson at (916) 327-1493 or TDD (916) 342-9531, or (800) 700-8326 for TDD calls outside the Sacramento area, by July 17, 1998.
