Dear Nichols,
I support the California Air Resources Board's leadership in
bringing
about landmark laws and policies to fight climate change and
protect
public health. The Low Carbon Fuel Standard is a critical piece of
California's AB 32 program and I urge you to reject the oil
industry's
efforts to weaken the standard.
The Low Carbon Fuel Standard must properly account for dirtier,
higher
carbon fuels and CARB must stay the course in implementing this
critical clean air program on schedule. I urge CARB to support a
strong
LCFS that fully accounts for all the air quality and environmental
impacts of petroleum fuels and does not give a "pass" to
dirtier fuels.
I join with the American Lung Association in California in urging
you
to ensure that California's fuels become cleaner over the next
decade
to support clean air, public health and spur investment in
alternatives
to dirty oil.
Sincerely,
Mr. Mark Weinberger
