| Comment | This is to recommend funding of the Biofuel Oasis proposal for a
biodiesel fueling station in Berkeley. They are an established
player in the biofuel community, delivering high quality biodiesel
to the East Bay community for years. The advantage of biodiesel is
that it is usable by the majority of diesel vehicles right now,
requiring no modifications, and their use of recycled vegetable
oil from local sources is the most enviromentally wise path that
we have seen yet. Using recycled vegetable oil does not put
pressure on agricultural producers to choose between growing for
food or for fuel, as we have read about lately concerning the
price of corn flour doubling in Mexico, which has been attributed
to American corn going to ethanol rather than food.
