Throughout the history of time Men and Women have created sea
vessels for the purpose of defending lands, conquering lands, and
transport of equipment and commerce goods for the purpose of world
trade. The Vikings of the nordic countries crafted sailing and
rowing vessels out of wood, as did other European countries. Some
of the most prominent luxury vessels being produced today are
constructed of wood and fiberglass via the cold-mold process of
construction. Many of these boats built out of wood built from the
early 1950s are still being used as they have been re-constructed
and maintained as classic craft! With the advent of fiberglass
resins and structural cloth, the craft became just as strong and
actually became lighter. The point I am trying to make is the
vessels on the water today are similar to the past. They have
lasted a long time and shall not be considered "unsafe" due to a
political ploy to mitigate recreational activity on the water by
common folks of this country. Steel vessels require just as much
if not more maintenance with the requirement of more detailed
cleaning, corrosion protection, and special sealants. This is
smelling like a ploy to only allow special interest commercial
industries to have sole access to seafood. You have an opportunity
to make this right for the recreational fisherman, do what is right
and do not pass these amendments.
