| Comment | The 5 million metric ton CO2 goal is inadequate and will not result in the signifcant levels of change that must be achieved. 10 to 11 MMT is appropriate. It is essential that we set our goals as high as possible. In order to have any real effect on the crisis of Global Warming, we must begin building our communities in very different ways -- deemphasizing the dependence on the car and emphasizing local pedestrian access to daily needs, along with good and frequent locally serving public transit. Setting such significant goals will likely result in a new wave of investment energy - especially if provision for "housing cars" is significantly reduced. |
