The proposed increase in fuel taxes is going to hurt a lot of
people.  It smacks of a disconnected elitist effort to force people
to "take their medicine," shut up and cope.  Lower and middle
income families are already suffering from inflation.  Fuel, food,
utilities all cost an ever growing portion of their income.  We
live in a rural area.  It is 85 to 120 miles to a decent hospital
from here.  Driving is not an option but a necessity.  People are
hurting and this proposal is about to deepen their troubles. 
Please reconsider.  People here take the limited public
transportation that is available, they also car pool where they can
but by and large, those options are not available to most locals.
