| Comment | Friends - Large cargo ships traveling up and down our coast produce
significant green house gases and toxic emissions that impact our
coastal communities. Whales, fish and other marine mammals are
threatened with ship strikes in this area, too. Slowing down cargo
ships would meet multiple objectives of your draft Cap-and-Trade
Investment Plan, including reduction of GHG emissions and other air
pollutants, improvement of public health, and better protection of
whales. I support including vessel speed reduction in your Final
Plan as a priority for funding and request that Cap-and-Trade money
be directed to the Vessel Speed Reduction Initiative.
Here is a wonderful opportunity to do good for those who cannot
speak for themselves.
