Subject | Clean Air - Future Laws and Mandated Changes |
Comment | The whole Go Green idea to protect our environment is a great idea. However, as part of this initiative, there have already been several laws passed in California, with future mandates, to change how we live. Natural gas runs clean and has been the most economical way to cook, and heat our homes, for decades.Yet lawmakers have chosen to ban fracking for new sources of natural gas, to ban the sales of gas furnaces, gas hot water heaters after 2030. What about gas stoves? At the same time they require all new passenger cars and light trucks sold in the California after 2035 to be electric. The problem is, these measures are very impractical, and very costly for everyone. At the same time the resource materials to make these types of car batteries are rare, and some must be imported. What if there is war, or these materials are depleted? Also from my understanding, our electric grid cannot support California's energy needs now. How is our current electric grid going to support millions of new electric furnaces, and charging stations for all the electric cars? Did anyone check to see how much this is going to cost the average household, before passing these laws? Did anyone check to see how much it would cost our utility companies to beef up the grid to handle these requirements? Which in turn would be passed on to the consumers. It's getting to the point there are many decisions that should be decided by popular vote of it's citizens, not elected officials, and boards. It appears to me, that many impractical laws are being passed, because the elected officials and board members vote with the flow, don't want to rock the boat and get 8 Balled out of office. When they should consider what their constituents would prefer, when they vote. If these laws aren't revoked or rewritten, our state will be in big trouble. |
