Comment | Dear CARB - As an avid fisherman who primarily uses charter boats for fishing activities I feel compelled to write that forcing these companies out of business due to changes in requirements that end up causing their existing boats to be scrapped is an unreasonable and unfair activity to enforce. These are small businesses, and many cannot afford to purchase brand new boats just to meet changes to CARB requirements, thus resulting in them either having to close their business or increase their prices beyond reasonableness. This will have an overall negative impact on San Diego as a whole due to the loss in revenues, tourism, and just the general leisure we enjoy today. Please reconsider any changes that would have such a detrimental impact to this industry. The amount of emissions from just a small fishing charter fleet is going to be statistically zero, so there is zero to gain while losing so much. This would not be prudent management. Thanks, Jim Quagline |
