| Comment | Dear Chairman Nichols and other Board Members:
I understand that CARB has proposed an ZEV amendment to cut the
number of "pure" zero emission vehicles currently required in the
ZEV program by 90 percent, slashing the number of ZEVs on
California's roads from 25,000 to 2,500 between 2012 and 2014.
This is a significant step backwards from the progress the State
has made since 2003 in mandating automakers to produce cars that
will have a positive impact on global warming and the pollution
that Californians are subjected to everyday.
My family and I ask that the CARB drop this proposal and require
the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014.
Also, I ask that the CARB create a separate requirement for
plug-in hybrids that lets them replace the dirtiest vehicles in
CARB's regulations, rather than the cleanest ZEVs.
Thank you for your consideration of my views.
Very truly yours,
Paul F. Douglas
