| Comment | Please do not weaken the current Zero Emission Vehicle regulations.
This regulation addresses air quality, global warming and petroleum
dependency concerns.
I have been waiting and waiting to have the option of purchasing a
battery electric vehicle to reduce my own impact in these areas.
This is unlikely to come to pass, though, if automakers are only
required to make 150 ZEV vehicles per year.
I fully support the staff's proposal to significantly increase the
number of plug-in hybrids that must be produced and appreciate
staff's vision in including these cars in the ZEV requirements. A
plug-in hybrid that has an all-electric range, but that also runs
on gasoline when the battery is empty, is a great option for
consumers like me.
Thank you for your efforts,
Jenny Pont
