| Comment | Dear CARB,
I hope the California Air Resources Board will not weaken the
current Zero Emission Vehicle regulations. Zero emission vehicles
reduce air pollution, and help fight global warming. Now is the
time to strengthen, not weaken, these requirements.
As a potential car purchaser (I need to replace my 2000 wagon even
though it has less than 60,000 miles), I amworried about pollution
and the high price of gasoline. I want to have the option of
purchasing a zero emission vehicle and reducing my own impact in
these areas. This is unlikely to come to pass, though, if
automakers are only required to make 150 ZEV vehicles per year.
Finally, I fully support the staff's proposal to significantly
increase the number of plug-in hybrids that must be produced and
appreciate staff's vision in including these cars in the ZEV
requirements. A plug-in hybrid that has an all-electric range, but
that also runs on gasoline when the battery is empty, is a great
option for consumers like me.
