As someone who wishes they could purchase a viable electric
vehicle it disturbs me that you are considering weakening the Zero
Emission Vehicle regulations. The monolithic car companies need a
kick in the ass to actually move forward and innovate, and the
massive size of the California market means you can help push them
towards that innovation. Letting them slide on Zero Emission
Vehicles isn't going to help.
Finally, I fully support the staff's proposal to significantly
increase the number of plug-in hybrids that must be produced and
appreciate staff's vision in including these cars in the ZEV
requirements. A plug-in hybrid that has an all-electric range, but
that also runs on gasoline when the battery is empty, is a great
option for consumers like me.
