| Comment | Dear CARB,
I write today to ask that the California Air Resources Board not
weaken the current Zero Emission Vehicle regulations. Zero
emission vehicles not only reduce air pollution, but help in the
fight against global warming. In fact, now is the time to
strengthen, not weaken, these requirements.
As a potential car purchaser, I am concerned about pollution as
well as the high price of gasoline. I would very much like to have
the option of purchasing a zero emission vehicle and reducing my
own impact in these areas. This is unlikely to come to pass,
though, if automakers are only required to make 150 ZEV vehicles
per year.
Manufacturers are not going to develop the vehicles I want, that
use no combustible fuels, without governmental mandates. We can
not leave it up to the "market forces" which historically have
preferred the status quo. We MUST act now to make these vehicles
widely available. It is up to you to spur on that change.
Sincerely,
Michael Pliskin
