| Subject | Zero Emission Vehicle regulations |
| Comment | To California Air Resources Board members:
I urge the California Air Resources Board not to weaken
California's Zero Emission Vehicle regulations. Zero emission
vehicles reduce both air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions
that have caused global warming. Indeed the global warming crisis
mandates that tougher regulations be adopted, rather than
weakening the existing ones.
As a consumer I am concerned about pollution as well as the
high price of gasoline. I would like to be able to purchase a zero
emission vehicle to reduce my own carbon footprint. However, this
will be extremely difficult if automobile companies are only
required to make 150 ZEV vehicles per year.
I fully support the CARB's staff proposal to significantly
increase the number of plug-in hybrids that automakers are
requires to produce and appreciate the staff's vision in including
these cars in the ZEV requirements. A plug-in hybrid with an
all-electric range but also runs on gasoline when the battery is
empty is a great option for consumers like me.
Sincerely,
Christine Keyser
