| Comment | I write to ask that the California Air Resources Board not weaken
the current Zero Emission Vehicle regulations. Zero emission
vehicles reduce air pollution and global warming gasses. Now is
the time to strengthen, not weaken, these requirements.
My family is highly concerned about pollution, climate change,
declining oil production and rising gas prices. We would love to
have the option of purchasing or converting to a zero emission
vehicle. This is unlikely if automakers are only required to make
150 ZEV vehicles per year.
On the other hand, I fully support the staff's proposal to
significantly increase the number of plug-in hybrids that must be
produced and appreciate their vision in including these cars in
the ZEV requirements. A plug-in hybrid that has an all-electric
range, but that also runs on gasoline when the battery is empty,
is a great option for a consumer like me and my family.
