Comment | I have been a Southern California resident for 49 years. I remember as a kid when we could not go to recess or play after lunch because of "smog alert" days. I remember going to the beach and fishing in the ocean as a kid, the water was way worse than it is now and the beaches were littered with trash. It is not like that any more thanks to environmental conditions improving and people caring more about our ecosystem. We have come a long way and still have room for improvement but the changes that are being attempted and crammed down the throat of the sport fishing community are absolutely draconian. Enough is enough, you cannot destroy an industry that provides jobs, food and recreation to millions of Californians. Look at the bigger picture not just through the lens of preservationism. The other big question is how is it that the commercial fishing is not being subjected to the same? I have worked in the commercial fishing industry and have owned a sport boat for the last twelve years, I definitely have a stake in this attempted change and so does my family. Rethink what you are trying to do to Californians. |
