| Comment | I am a lifelong Californian who strongly supports regulation for
cleaner air. I urge the California Air Resources Board to adopt the
2010 Consumer Products Regulation Amendments. I support the
amendments primarily because they will reduce smog-forming volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) found in cleaning supplies and many other
consumer goods. VOCs are high-priority air pollutants for stricter
regulation, in my view.
I also support the amendments' creation of product-specific bans of
key ingredients that have significant health or environmental
concerns, including alkylphenol ethoxylates, perchloroethylene and
chemicals with high potential to worsen global warming.
Approving these amendments will set an important precedent in
protecting the health of families and workers nationwide, as
California's regulations tend to lead companies to adopt our
state's standards for all of their products, everywhere they are
sold.
I appreciate the protections you have already put into place--thank
you for doing what it takes to protect public health and our
state's plethora of unique and ecologically important landscapes.
