A possible increase in gasoline taxes of $0.65 per gallon
should not be considered.
California has the highest gasoline prices in the nation along with
the highest car registration cost. Unfortunately this money is
put in the general fund and not used for road safety or road
improvements. Our freeways, highways, bridges and other road
infrastructure are in extremely poor condition. Our roadside
rests are normally a disaster and half of them are closed most of
the time.
My wife and I travel across to the East coast about twice a
year and I would say California ranks near the bottom in our roads
and travel conditions. I would think that California is collecting
2 to 3 times the revenue in car registrations and gas taxes than
any other state and have nothing to show for it.
Our State is practically the lowest ranking in all categories!
It's time that California turn over a new leaf and stop taxing the
hell out of people!
