The fact that California (1) still taxes citizens to pay for wider
highways and (2) mandates parking minimums shows that the state is
not reasonably, consistently, or sanely committed to building a
sustainable, healthy, or prosperous future for its citizens.

Since the 1920s, the government has enforced car dependency on
America, a travesty of the greatest proportions.

Cars severely injure innocent citizens on a daily basis. It locks
people into dire financial straights. It fills people's days with
boredom, unproductivity, and resentment.

California has the opportunity to become the greatest place in the
world. But we need to create cities and towns where people standing
outside are free from the immense danger caused by personal
automobiles. That means stop the funding of roadways and start
funding rail, bus, cement bollards, and other micro-mobility
solutions. Cars have created enough suffering. The younger
generations are counting on you to reverse the grave error of
state-mandated car dependency.
