| Comment | My name is Gabriela Mendez, I live in the Inland Region of Southern
California. The Truck traffic impacts me and my community because
diesel pollution is very dangerous to our health. When we have
thousands of trucks passing behind our homes per day, our chances
of developing respiratory illnesses are very high. These are
serious matters as we have elementary schools in the radius of a 5
minute walk to the freeway. Students are not allowed to play
outside on certain days because of the air quality. This can be
resolved with a higher percentage of zero emissions trucks. As I am
happy to see CARB taking a move towards reducing pollution in our
communities I would like to suggest moving towards achieving 12% by
2024 and 80% by 2035 on zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) for Class 7-8
trucks. We are already faced with a huge threat being climate
change. We look to you for a bold move in the right direction which
prioritizes public health to better our quality of life.
Thank you,
Gabriela Mendez
