SubjectCut the supply and demand for Amazon crude
Comment

As CARB is in the process of collecting feedback on the California Climate Change Scoping Plan, I urge the organization to cut its supply and demand for Amazon crude (i.e. oil drilled from the Amazon). California is one of the Amazon's top consumers; oil drilling in the Amazon has cost the lives of indigenous peoples residing the Amazon, including the region's agriculture/ environment. If California continues pushing for new oil drilling, this will increase fossil fuel production, which is already too exponential and can result in dire consequences (including abnormal and intense climate conditions, climate catastrophes-- which affect companies and their profits, health risks, etc.).

I urge CARB to:

1. Commit California to a policy/ regulatory agenda that ensures that California refinaries are not sourcing crude form regions where there are Indigenous rights violations or from regions where new oil drillining in the Amazon is being planned.

2. Not punt California's climate impacts to communities in the Amazon. Present a plan for California to reduce and/or eliminate its consumption of crude from the Amazon

3. Commit California to new fuel efficiency standards and expanded electrification of fleets that consume the most Amazon oil.

Thank you.
