I would like to express my concerns regarding the substantial
increase in the yearly costs associated with owning an RV.
Previously, my registration fee is $280 per year. However, due to
the new smog mandates--mandates I believe to be unnecessary for
RVs--I am now faced with an annual opacity test that costs $350 at
the testing facility. This situation appears to be quite
unreasonable.

While I am in full support of measures aimed at environmental
protection, my three decades of experience in the auto industry
have led me to find many of the current regulations puzzling. For
instance, the California-approved catalytic converters that just
add more cost.

Although I recognize that my feedback may not be given significant
weight, I feel compelled to voice my frustrations as a Californian.
The increasing financial burden is becoming untenable, prompting me
to consider relocating my family to a different state and this is
something I never imagined. I urge you to consider the impact of
these regulations on individuals and families, as they profoundly
affect our quality of life.
