| Comment | Fully electric, plug-in electric cars may not be the entire
solution to our resource use and environmental degradation
problems, but they would be a significant step in a very positive
direction, since it is much easier to control - and change -
resource use and other environmental impact issues at a greatly
reduced number of sources. That is, at several dozen or several
hundred power plants instead of several million private vehicles.
Considering the urgency of the need for significant progress
towards lowered emissions and renewable, sustainable,
environmentally responsible energy sources, and the tremendous
potential for creating hundred of thousands of jobs in new, 21st
century industries, the opportunity represented by development of
a domestic electric car industry, and the other industries that go
with it, failing to pursue the opportunity is nothing short of a
crime.
