| Comment | As a physician I am very aware of the serious short term and long
term health impacts of particulate air pollution on residents of
the the Central Valley, and as a long term resident of the Central
Valley have personally experienced these impacts on my own health.
Residents have been waiting nearly 20 years for relief. Further
delay can no longer be passively tolerated. I would support a Carl
Moyer type program to assist farmers in transitioning from open
field burning. Please help end the antiquated farming practice of
ag burning that is robbing residents of the ability to breath clean
air and which I jeopardizing their cardiorespiratory health,
especially with increasing impacts of climate change and drought
that both reduce precipitation to clear the air of smoke and
increases wildfire smoke for many months of the year. Keep the
carbon in the ground, not in our air.
