| Comment | As a Californian, I feel strongly that our state should lead the
way on climate change adaptation and mitigation--as we have already
been doing. Offsets, while they certainly have their place in a
green economy, are just not as good a solution as reducing
emissions and climate pollution in the first place, especially for
large companies and corporations. Carbon offsets allow those
corporations to keep polluting. Furthermore, the offsets run the
risk of displacing native people in the Amazon and other areas that
offsets supposedly support. And the efficacy of offsets in the
long-run is unknown and the integrity of current projects is
difficult to measure. California should not endorse them through
endorsement of TFS.
