| Comment | We need to set a very strong example here for several reasons. As
we dawdle our way towards reducing greenhouse gases, China and
India are building new coal fired power plants every day to
facilitate their move towards becoming modern industrial nations.
This has truly frightening implications for our polar ice caps,
mercury and C02 contamination of the oceans, and atmospheric
pollution, notwithstanding the disposal of the coal ash left
behind. If California can show the way towards alternative sources
of energy and meaningful reduction of greenhouse gases, perhaps it
will start a worldwide trend to follow our lead. Humankind is in
deep trouble if we don't act now to resolve this mammoth problem,
please don't let the lobbyists from the fossil fuel companies
weaken this effort. They are fighting a losing battle and they
know it. Thank you.
