| Comment | To whom it may concern,
I am writing to encourage the Board members to consider adopting
new regulations requiring the sale of a specific percentage of
zero-emissions vehicles. The Board adopted similar regulations
years ago, but later reversed direction. I urge you to reconsider
such regulations for several reasons including, but not limited to,
the following: 1) The technology has existed for some time to
produce such vehicles, 2) the previous experiment with
zero-emissions vehicles was not allowed to succeed, 3) the
pluggin-hybrid technology has proven that there are batteries
capable of extending the range of electric vehicles, 4) there is a
demand for such vehicles as demonstrated by the waiting lists for
hybrid vehicles, 5) zero-emissions vehicles, if circulated widely
enough, can help reduce the emissions produced in California and
have a beneficial effect on the environment and people's health.
I urge you to consider such requirements, if not in the
regulations currently under consideration, then soon. I would
like the next vehicle I purchase to be a zero-emissions vehicle.
Please help make this wish come true.
Respectfully,
Apostolos (Paul) Samaras
