| Comment | Dear Ms. Nichols:
I am writing you urge you to maintain Zero Emission Vehicle
(ZEV)production requirements in the State of California at the
highest possible levels. California has always been a national
leader in anti-pollution law making and a leader in innnovation
influencing the rest of the country. The California Air Resources
Board (CARB)contemplation of reducing the ZEV production
requirement to 150 ZEVs per year through 2015 is outrageous and
unconscionable given the current concerns around greenhouse gas
emissions; America's oil dependence and the price gouging that is
currently taking place at the pumps.
We have the technology to develop reliable ZEVs now and auto
industry needs the incentive to start ZEV production. Don't be a
sellout to the auto industry by lowering ZEV requirements and do
the following:
1. Require the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for
2012-2014, and
2. Create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that lets
them replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, rather
than the cleanest ZEVs.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Scott Stevenson
