Re: Support staff recommendations for Item 08-2-7

On behalf of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, I write in
support of the CARB staff recommendation to allocate 55% of the
Proposition 1B air emission reduction program funds to the
L.A./Inland Empire Trade Corridor. The Chamber recognizes the
hard work and countless hours that CARB staff put into developing
a fair and justified allocation of limited resources.

Goods movement in the Los Angeles region dwarfs that of any other
trade corridor. However, significant investment is needed to
off-set the emissions caused by this considerable growth and
activity. Therefore, the Chamber supports allocating a
proportionally larger share of Prop. 1B funds to the LA/Inland
Empire Trade Corridor.

As one of our fastest growing job sectors, the logistics industry
represents an economic boon to Southern California. Los Angeles
and Inland Empire are working hard as a region to meet the
challenges presented by growth and have committed local funds to
replace outdated equipment and improve infrastructure.

The Chamber thanks CARB for recognizing our immense challenge and
for its vital support in helping our region succeed in meeting
clean air goals. We as an organization commit to continually
working with staff to improve emissions reductions while achieving
economic prosperity.

Sincerely,

Gary Toebben
