SubjectUrgent request to approve Biofuel Oasis grant for Berkeley fueling station
Comment
Dear ARB staff and commissioners,

I have been a loyal customer of BioFuel Oasis in Berkeley for
about three years, and was excited to learn of their grant
application to ARB for development of fueling infrastructure.
BioFuel Oasis has outgrown their current space, due to the rapid
increase in retail biodiesel demand. Therefore, as California
proceeds toward its alternative fuel mandates and especially
carbon emission reduction measures under AB 32, it is essential to
fund and develop local infrastructure for delivering these clean
vehicle fuel and energy solutions.

In considering your grant-making in the coming weeks, please
consider the benefits that BioFuel Oasis provides in the community
of Berkeley and the surrounding Bay Area:

    * BioFuel Oasis has a successful record of supplying biodiesel
for over 3 years and is the only place to buy biodiesel at a public
pump in the Bay Area. While cooperative distribution is increasing,
public pumps are essential to the widespread adoption of biodiesel
as a legitimate motor fuel.
    * The new location will make biodiesel much more accessible,
not only to the Bay Area, but to travelers on the busy I-80
corridor. Our community is adamant to have easy and widespread
access to alternative fuels.
    * BioFuel Oasis is a small, locally-owned and women-owned
business with the money staying in the state and local community.
This adds to the diversity of our local economy, and also provides
benefits to the State.
    * BioFuel Oasis strives to acquire biodiesel made as locally
as possible from recycled vegetable oil. This further promotes
sustainability and reduces carbon emissions.
    * The use of biodiesel translates into lower carbon
dioxide/greenhouse gas emissions and lower particulates, which
means cleaner air and less global warming.

I appreciate your consideration of BioFuel Oasis' grant
application, and urge you to fund it in this cycle of grant
awards. The growth of clean energy and global warming solutions in
our community depends upon it.

Sincerely,
John Galloway
Berkeley, California
