Hello,
My brother worked at the Port of Oakland as an employee of Union
Pacific Railroad where he was exposed to the constant onslaught of
polluted air from idling trucks. He died very young of pulmonary
fibrosis. So I have a very personal reason for supporting the
proposed rule that would mandate 30 percent of heavy-duty trucks
sold to be electric, zero-emission vehicles by 2033. A rule such as
this might have helped my brother and will certainly save others
from similar health impacts. In addition, this rule will reduce
greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality. Moreover,
adoption of the rule will incentivize and accelerate battery
development that will boost EV adoption across the nation. Let's
take this important step.
