Good morning Board,

My name is Raj Dhillon, and I am commenting on behalf of BREATHE
California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA), an environmental
health nonprofit agency. I am writing to urge CARB to strengthen
the Advanced Clean Trucks Regulation.

We know diesel pollution is extremely harmful, and CARB must take
the necessary steps to appropriately tackle this issue. By getting
more clean trucks on the road, we can make a meaningful impact in
reducing the harmful diesel pollution.

In order to get cleaner trucks on the road, CARB must have a
comprehensive approach that looks at both short-term and long-term
strategies. Zero-emissions trucks should be the goal as soon as
possible as a part of the long-term strategy. In the short-term, we
believe an on-road Low-NOx medium- or heavy-duty vehicle powered by
an engine that is certified to the CARB's Optional Low NOx standard
set at 0.02g/bhp-hr should be considered in the near-zero
definition.
