Subject | California needs a much stronger Advanced Clean Trucks Rule |
Comment | To the Chairperson Nichols and members of the California Air Resources Board; As a California resident and supporter of science-based policy, I urge the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to adopt a much stronger Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) Rule. The current proposal falls short of what's needed to clean up California's air and reach our climate emissions reduction goals. We need strong action now to curb the climate crisis and the pollution burdens from communities in California. As you know, California still has the worst air quality in the nation, and trucks contribute disproportionately to these emissions. Setting a standard that not only results in four percent zero-emission trucks on the road by 2030 is not good enough. I support CARB taking stronger and faster measures through the Advanced Clean Trucks Rule. I urge CARB to: -mandate that at least 15% of trucks on the road are electric by 2030; -commit to higher sales targets for zero-emission trucks; -begin sales targets for all types of trucks in 2024; and -set aggressive goals for zero-emission truck adoption beyond 2030. Please take stronger and faster measures through the Advanced Clean Trucks Rule in order to protect Californians from diesel pollution, improve air quality, and grow the state's clean energy economy. Please help ensure that the state adopts the strongest Advanced Clean Trucks Rule possible. Thank you for your consideration of my comments. Please do NOT add my name to your mailing list. I will learn about future developments on this issue from other sources. Sincerely, Christopher Lish San Rafael, CA |
