Comment | The CARB personnel need to take a step back and really examine if these drastic measures are necessary to the extent they are being pushed. Heck, the amount of particulates put out by the entire charter fishing fleet pales in comparison to what mother natures throws into the air in a single medium sized wildfire. Now here is an idea for CARB to think about... What about the tens of thousands of PRIVATE jets in operation in and through the skies of California? Again, those jets alone FAR OUTSTRIP the entire fishing fleet as far as particulates are concerned. A VAST MAJORITY if not all of those people commuting by private jet could easily book a first class ticket - for the entire first class section to boot as they would be financially ahead by doing that, instead of using a private jet. How about you go after them and charge a fee for each length of the flight, taxi time, and number of take-offs in CA. etc - those fees could at first be utilized to offset the cost of upfitting engines or replacing the charter fleet engines & boats. That would solve two problems at the same time! Please, many kids and veteran recovery groups use the charter fishing fleet to help them. I myself have been helped emotionally once I started fishing out in the ocean at age 63. Surely there can be some negotiations and work things out for the betterment of everyone. thanks for your time, Dale |
