Comment | To Whom It May Concern, I feel it paramount that I convey my concerns over the proposed amendments to the CHC regulation. Privately owned charter fishing crafts ARE NOT the problem in this case. These are in most cases small family run business that provide for fun family style adventures. Large commercial cargo vessels are the polluters. I too desire to protect our environment for future generations, Government is once again refuses to take on the larger problem in hopes to make a statement about "helping" the environment while ignoring the 800 lb. gorilla in the room. If government is successful in changing engine requirements and essentially either shutting down an industry and or pricing most people out of the market, the powers to be will once again fall back on the phrase of "unintended consequences" to a time honored family style adventure that many of us grew up enjoying. I urge ARB to realize that small businesses are not the big problem in this case and need to rethink that first the technology, which is asked for to gain compliance, is really not even in existence and will be far from affordable when it is intentionally available!! The ARB MUST take a long approach to these desired regs and get their minds in the proper place to address BIG business polluters. |
