I would like to start out by saying I agree with the intent of this
initiative. We need to protect our planet, oceans and fisheries. I
believe the regulations suggested need to take into consideration
the impact it will have on the many many families and small
businesses in the fishing community. There should be a way to
slowly move over to the new guidelines with checks and balances
along the way, something more democratic and fiscally responsible.
There should be government assistance for those that are not
financially able to meet the new guidelines. Just like every other
law and regulation, CARB is meant to help people and make us a
better planet, in this case I believe that is the whole hearted
intent. I also believe there will be some unintended consequences
that will irreversibly impact hard working, tax paying, voting
Californian citizens. Please reconsider CARB in its current
language and with its current time frames and work together with
the fishing community to come up with a solution that reaches the
intent of CARB without harming the little guys.
